CAMP ACTIVITIES 2008
The focus of our activities is to provide a safe, fun atmosphere where we can develop respect for ourselves, others and the environment. Activities include a weekly Mass, swimming, canoeing, archery, riflery, recreation, arts & crafts, nature, hiking, sleep-outs, a radio show, campfires, talent shows, liturgy, stargazing, drama, making new friends, evening devotions and growing in faith.
General Camp ($320)
Open to girls and boys ages 7-14. Enjoy a fun, memorable week where you can experience a wide variety of activities. Try target sports, go on a nature hike, develop your skills in arts & crafts or swim and lounge at our pool. During elective time you may choose from any activity at camp, such as shooting at our paintball range or canoeing in our pond. Every effort will be made for you to experience all of the activities you would like to do.
Mini Camp ($230)
Open to girls and boys ages 7-10. All the fun in half the week! Campers can
enjoy their first camp experience without being away from home for too long.
Our mini week includes exciting camp activities like swimming, hiking, arts & crafts, recreation, nature, campfires and making new friends. Counselors give the campers special attention to ensure a safe, enjoyable and memorable time.
Volleyball Camp ($170)
CYO Volleyball Camp is open to girls ages 9-13 who would like to improve their skills, meet others who love to play volleyball and enjoy the camp environment. Play on one of our many sand courts with beautiful Mt. Hood as your backdrop.
Target Sports ($355)
This has been one of our most popular specialty camps over the last several years. Open to boys and girls ages 11-14. After learning the basics and safety issues of archery and riflery it's time to advance! Spend 2 hours each day enhancing your skills at our advanced ranges, Then spend your afternoons participating in general camp activities.
Cheerleading Camp ($170)
This is an invaluable opportunity for youth ages 7-14 who are interested in cheering. Throughout this weekend campers will recieve specific instructions in the areas of dancing and precision movement. Campers will also enjoy the outdoor experience at Camp Howard. No cheer experience is required.
Jesus Jamboree ($170)
The Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon will hold our 6th Jesus Jamboree Camp scheduled for July 11 - 13 (Friday – Sunday) for ages 7 - 14 at Camp Howard.
We will have campfires, arts and crafts, Saints and vocation stories, bible skits, quiz and plays and music. Please join us at Jesus Jamboree applications from CYOCAMPHOWARD.ORG or call 503-231-9484.

Slot Car Camp ($250-session 1 mini and $350-session 3)
Open to boys and girls ages 7-10 for session 1 and ages 7 - 14 for session 3. Camp Howard's new digital slot car racing area has generated a lot of enthusiasm from campers and it has been selected as a specialty camp for the 2008 camping season. This activity takes place under cover and will be able to operate during rain or shine.
Day Camp Monday - Thursday ($175)
Open to boys and girls, ages 6-10. Here is your opportunity to enjoy the benefits of camp by day and the comforts of home at night. Activities include: Swimming, arts & crafts, hiking, recreation, nature, visiting our camp store, and much much more. Morning snack and lunch will be provided. We will offer daily bus transportation from the Madeleine grade school. Drop off your child at 8:00 and pick them up at 5:30.
Counselor in Training ($415)
The purpose of these courses are to provide training for youth who are interested in being a confident future leader, becoming a more self directed person, and to develop an understanding and acceptance of others.
LEVEL 1 - Open to males and females ages 15-17. During these two weeks the CIT's will learn the basic skills for becoming a great leader. Half of the time the CIT's will be taught skills such as behavior management. The other half the CIT's will get a chance to put these new skills into action as they assist our counselors in day to day activities.
LEVEL 2 - This is a two week course where the CIT's will refresh the skills they learned the prior year. Once this is accomplished the CIT's will spend the majority of time with their cabin groups, where they will get a chance to be in leadership roles. To be eligible you must have completed Level 1.
